OVERVIEW
Financial Times Live is pleased to present the Investing in the New Bolivia Summitfeaturing a keynote address by Evo Morales, President of the Plurinational State of Bolivia.
Bolivia is undergoing a striking economic transformation and is now Latin America’s fastest growing economy. For almost a decade, Bolivia’s economy has expanded more than 5 percent a year on average and the size of its economy has tripled to about $30 billion – fueled by a gas and minerals boom. Furthermore, the Andean country boasts some remarkable macroeconomic fundamentals, including a balanced budget, a high level of international reserves and low inflation rates.
With a stable political environment and prudent macroeconomic policies, Bolivia seems well positioned to weather the ongoing downturn in commodity prices and looks determined to keep recent key economic and social gains. In this context, Bolivia is promoting domestic and foreign investment, offering investors in sectors such hydrocarbons, mining and consumer goods attractive opportunities.
What are the most promising opportunities and key considerations for businesses looking to establish or expand their operations in Bolivia? What are the growth prospects of Bolivia’s main sectors and what are the recent policies and measures in place to attract foreign investment? What is the future of Bolivia after the commodities bonanza?
This strategic, invitation-only event will bring together senior policy makers, investors and international business leaders for a forward looking and insightful discussion about Bolivia’s economic prospects, key areas of growth and emerging investment opportunities.
